Frey Revolution

Beach weather is far off, but if you see a good bikini it's always a good time to check it out. And Undercover Lingerista has an excellent article on the Freya Revolution, a new strapless bikini. So if you're heading someplace warm this New Years, give it a look.

Although I am a convert to cup sized swimwear, a part of me does pine for the gorgeous strapless and bandeau bikinis found on the high street. I initially resigned myself to the idea that the strapless bikini was just not engineered for the larger bust, but I soon realised that I was mistaken. On browsing Simply Beach, I was overjoyed to come across a certain Freya bikini, whose name suggested that it was the end of my strapless bikini envy.

Actress Sues FHM Over Photoshop

Every so often, I come across a story that, for whatever reason, amuses or tickles me in the right way. This week, that particular article is an article that appeared in Jezebel about an Iranian actress who is suing FHM magazine for photoshopping her clothes out of her cover picture. From the article:

...Malik claims that when she posed for the photographer, she wore a bikini, hot pants and a thong — topless, but never fully nude. She's suing the publication for $2 million.

Fashion History

Like with all things, with fashion it's important to know one's history. You have to know where you've come from before you can know where you're going. But there's so much of it and most of it is completely alien to us, that it's hard to know where to start or what to research. Well if you're interested in researching your fashion history, Vintage Fashion Guild has an interesting fashion timeline, from 1800 on.

"The fashion canvas of the 18th century changed radically as the 19th century began and simpler, lighter brushstrokes were applied. Fashion in the first two decades mimicked classical Grecian drapery with its fluid lines. Bodices were minimal, cut to end under the bust thereby achieving a high waist that defined the silhouette."

The Lyla

While we all like examining entire lingerie lines, but sometimes it's nice to just hear about a single article of clothing. Thus I found Becky's review of The Freya 'Lyla', for Invest in Your Chest quite informative and interesting, in addition to that amazing color scheme.

The fitters were wonderful though, as everyone who was ushered in left with a goodie bag and a smile on their face. Since my Busts 4 Justice days I’ve been fitted by most people and in many ways, so I consider myself pretty well educated on a good fit. And I have to say, as a pedantic fitting fanatic, Eveden really raised the bra

The Best Tights For Winter

Winter is approaching fast which means different types of clothing to help with the cold weather. But that doesn't mean that your clothes can't look good, even lingerie and tights, as Treacle for The Lingerie Addict explains with her top tights for winter.

"...the one perk of the winter season is that I finally get to wear the tights I've been stockpiling for the last 12 months. Many of you know that my blog started off as Stockings Addict and let me tell you, I am a tights fiend. I collect hosiery the way some people collect baseball cards."

Who Sells Lingerie in Saudi Arabia?

Lingerie stores in Saudi Arabia have historically been staffed exclusively by men. This meant that women have no choice but to discuss the intimate subject with male strangers, being sized up at a glance through their robes since measurements cannot be made due to laws that prohibit unmarried men and women from touching, and given an attempted estimate of size. The lingerie salesmen give suggestions on what would suit the women, which could undoubtedly be an uncomfortable experience for her. Wouldn't hiring women to run lingerie stores solve these issues? Steps are being taken to make this happen. Read Margaret Hartman's article, "Saudi Arabia Says Goodbye to Male Lingerie Salesman" on Jezebel.
"Talking to a saleswoman about your underwear is often a bit awkward, but it could be much worse. To replicate the Saudi Arabian bra-buying experience, you'd have to find a middle-aged male Victoria's Secret salesman and ask him to guess your bra size and describe the fit of a lacy panty. For years, women in the country have been forced to buy undergarments from male clerks, but soon they may be able to buy a bra from someone who's actually worn one."

Bra Bulge - Too Tight?

We all hate the unsightly back bulge caused by bras that don't fit quite right. Think it's because it fits too snugly? That's likely not the case.
Read Is My Bra Too Tight? on RealSimple.com.

Q: I always look like I have back fat. Is my bra too tight?

A: No, it’s actually too loose. A properly fitting bra is the key to a smooth back. Here are three strategies to prevent bra-induced bulge:

Make sure the band fits snugly (you should be able to slide only one finger underneath it) and sits low under your shoulder blades. “When the band is too large, the bra rides up in the back, which creates a roll,” says Lauren Amerine, a co-owner of Isabella Fine Lingerie, in Chicago. (Remember: The band should fit perfectly on the loosest hook, since the bra will inevitably stretch out.)

Look for a bra with a band that is wide under the arms and across the back to help hold in soft flesh (the closure should have a row of two or three hooks, not one hook).

Choosing Lingerie For Your Body Type

Lingerie shopping can be a daunting experience if you aren't sure about what would work best with your body. Before you go shopping for lingerie, realistically analyze and consider your figure. Without being too critical, look into the mirror and make an overall assessment about what you’re working with. Choose the areas of your body that you’re proud of and willing to bring out and be aware of areas that you’d rather downplay. Your lingerie should showcase the most appealing portions of your body while concealing areas you don’t feel quite as confident about. There are plenty of different options for lingerie style. What would work best for you depends on your body type and what you’re aiming to do with your figure.
The bust certainly gets a lot of attention, making it important to be sure that you adorn your bosom appropriately to maximize your appeal. If you have a small bust that you wish to add some volume to, try a style that brings the bust out. Halter styles can do wonders to enhance your cleavage by pulling the bust up and in. Wearing something with tiered ruffles gives volume and a sweet feminine vibe. When looking for a lift, you can’t go wrong with a push-up bra with some padding and underwire for extra support. If you feel that your build is too slim, two-piece lingerie is recommended to construct a curvy hourglass impression. Boy shorts also look great with this type of figure.
If you have a larger upper body with a tummy, your body type could be described as apple-shaped. In this case, a goal is to disguise that tummy and redirect attention to parts of your body that you feel confident about. Strategically choose differing colors for two-piece lingerie. Having a darker color for your bottom than your top slims down your tummy and balances your proportions. Drive the attention to your bust with something low-cut or a bustier to accentuate your cleavage. If you have larger breasts, bandeau styles, plunging neckline, and ruffle trims could work very well for you. Avoid padding and opt for something more subtle.
If you’re pear-shaped with bountiful hips, thighs, and buttocks that you’re looking to narrow down, this can be done with long, flowing lingerie. Gowns that drape around the upper thigh such as babydoll teddies, tunic-style tanks, and negligees cling to your curves and are useful for hiding the top bit of your thighs, especially if there are some ruffles along the hem. Corsets can also be used to draw attention upwards and take 2-3 inches from your waistline while bringing out your bust and cleavage. Boy shorts could also compliment a full bottom very nicely.
A few extra tips to keep in mind: If you’re tall, consider emphasizing the length of your legs with a garter belt. It gives a classic kind of sexy that works best with height. Darker colors are known for giving a slimming effect, so use them for any areas that you’d like to cut down or deemphasize. Lastly but most importantly, be sure to buy your lingerie in the correct size! Wearing something too tight or too loose could be uncomfortable and just won’t look as great on you as something specifically built for your body type. Be comfortable with yourself and revel in your sex appeal. When you radiate confidence, you’re irresistible.

Underfashion on Your Big Day

When it comes to choosing intimate apparel, there aren’t many occasions that will undergo as much deliberation as when deciding on what to wear under your dress on your wedding day. This special event calls for special attention to your lingerie, and price, comfort, and style should all be taken into consideration. Keep these tips in mind while doing your shopping.

 - Set A Budget. Try to keep aware of how much you intend to spend. Expect to use around $50-$75 for a stylish and dress-appropriate set of undergarments. Good lingerie isn’t cheap and cheap lingerie isn’t good. Since you’re going to be wearing this lingerie all day, it’s extremely important to make sure it’s comfortable. Discomfort leads to irritability, which would make it difficult to sustain a good mood throughout the entire wedding.

- Make Sure It's Quality. Choose lingerie that is designed well and made with agreeable material. Make sure it isn’t too loose or tight and actually fits. Don’t let uncomfortable underwear ruin your wedding day; wear something you wouldn’t mind dancing and moving in for hours on end. When you feel good, you look beautiful.

- Make it Sexy. As much as it’s important to feel comfortable, it’s also essential that your lingerie makes you feel sexy and alluring. What you choose to wear under your dress affects how you look as much as how you feel. Your lingerie should be supportive, have invisible panty/bra lines, and compliment your shape. A corset or shapewear can do wonders for your breasts and waist. Would you rather wear pantyhose or a garter belt? The specific details of the dress must also be considered when choosing your undergarments.

-Color Co-Ordinate. Make it match in color and style. Does your dress show your back or shoulders? You’d want to get a bra that appropriately fits under your dress, since having straps peeking through can really take away from your dress and image. Stitching the edge of your bra to your dress can help prevent it from slipping out of place.

-Try Something Different. Be daring for this special occasion. Do you really want to narrow your options when you have the perfect excuse to go all out? This is a night to remember. Unique, adventurous lingerie can really make your wedding night an astonishing and unforgettable experience.
