On February 1, at the Underfashion Club's Femmy Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City, six intimate apparel students from the Fashion Institute of Technology competed in the 8th annual student design contest. The contest is an integral part of the Underfashion Club's mission to help educate, influence and attract new talent for the industry.
The six garments were displayed throughout the evening, and the 600+ gala attendees representing all facets of the international intimate apparel community cast their votes, as follows:
1st Prize of $4,000 was awarded to Amy Bittner (garment #3) for her "Love Knows No End"
2nd Prize of $3,000 was awarded to Nathalie Quirin (garment #6) for her "Ethereal"
3rd Prize of $2,100 was awarded to Elizabeth NeSmith (garment #1) for her "Grand Pas de Willis"
The three remaining finalists, listed in alphabetical order, each received $300:
The Underfashion Club is a nonprofit providing education and information about the intimate apparel industry and hosts the Femmy Awards Dinner to raise funds for scholarships.
Underfashion Club members are engaged in all facets of intimate apparel -- foundations, day wear, sleepwear, robes, and loungewear. The Club's membership represents students, retailers, manufacturers, textile mills, and fiber producers. Members include management, marketing, merchandising, sales, design, and education. A nonprofit organization, we provide the intimate apparel / fashion industry a forum for the exchange of information and ideas and place to discuss and solve industry challenges.
